How does Vestigee compare with MyHeritage?

MyHeritage's strengths are continental European collections, tree-to-tree matching and an established DNA product. Vestigee's strength is reading: transcription of handwritten registers, translation, extraction of names and dates, and processing documents nobody has indexed — plus photo restoration and unlimited tree building in one subscription.

Can I import my MyHeritage tree?

Yes, via GEDCOM export and import: people, dates, places, relationships and notes transfer. Download attached photographs separately, and keep the GEDCOM file as a backup — Vestigee exports GEDCOM as well.

Which is better for German, Polish or Scandinavian records?

For finding indexed entries, MyHeritage's European collections and tree matches are a strong starting point. For reading what you find — Kurrent-style German hands, Latin parish entries, Polish and Scandinavian registers — transcription and translation are what actually unblock you, and that is Vestigee's core.

Do both offer photo enhancement?

Both do, and the honest advice is to compare outputs on your own photograph. Judge whether faces still look like the same person after restoration, and treat colorization as plausible rather than documented.

Which has better tree matching?

MyHeritage has invested heavily in matching your tree against other users' trees, and its pool of European trees is large. Remember that a tree match is a lead: follow it to the record before accepting it.

Can I use both together?

Yes, and it is a common pattern: mine the European collections and match lists on one side, do reading, translation and photo work on the other, keep a single master tree and export a GEDCOM regularly.

Is there a free trial?

Test with your own material rather than a demo: import your GEDCOM, run one archive search and put one genuinely difficult document through transcription. Current trial terms and prices for your country are on the pricing page.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Export a GEDCOM and download your documents and photographs before you cancel, on any platform. That habit — not a vendor promise — is what keeps your research yours.
